Muscle pain during menopause? This detail is kept secret from those affected...
A very personal story about menopause – with all its ups and downs. In this article, our editor Marla (54) shares honestly and openly about the challenges she faced during this new phase of life and how she ultimately managed to permanently relieve her excruciating muscle pain in just 30 days – without hormone therapy or medication.

Stiff muscles in the morning, sore arms, legs, and back, limited mobility in everyday life – does this sound familiar? Almost half of all women in menopause suffer from muscle pain, accompanied by morning stiffness, aches, and a general feeling of unease. Such intense symptoms demonstrate the profound impact of a complete hormonal shift. Our editor Marla experienced the same thing – until she finally discovered the missing piece of the puzzle that helped her manage her menopausal muscle pain.
And this is precisely where a discovery lies that can be the decisive turning point for many…!
Menopause – Will I have muscle pain for the rest of my life?
Hello dear readers, I'm Marla, 54 years old, and well into menopause . But it's been a long road to get here.
At 48, I noticed that my periods were becoming increasingly irregular. Fully committed to my job, I initially ignored menopause and attributed it to increased stress. But then, muscle pain suddenly began to appear. My thighs burned when I stood up, and my back felt like the muscles were knotted. Even simple tasks became a challenge. From one day to the next, I felt something I never wanted to be: old.
When the pain and stiffness didn't go away even after a few weeks, I became afraid: Was my active, pain-free life over forever? I had always done a lot of exercise. Now, every arm or knee movement sometimes hurt. This frustrated me and made me irritable.

At my next routine checkup, my gynecologist explained to me that I was now entering menopause and that the muscle pain was not an uncommon symptom . She recommended stretching exercises and anti-inflammatory ointments.
Of course I tried it. I tested all sorts of different ointments, creams, oils, and packs. I went to the pharmacy so often for advice that at some point the employee just shrugged his shoulders , because he didn't know what to do either.
I did gentle yoga exercises before bed , but even the simpler ones were simply uncomfortable or even painful . Nothing helped! From one day to the next, I had become an old woman. The muscle pain worsened in the evening and overnight, whenever my body was resting. Soon, it became normal for me to get up regularly during the night because I couldn't bear the pain any longer. My muscle problems continued to worsen.
Combined with the night sweats, restful sleep was out of the question. During the day, I wasn't myself. I walked through the world like a zombie , becoming increasingly forgetful , irritable , and frustrated . Due to the lack of exercise, I also gained a few pounds . I no longer felt comfortable in my own skin.
I heard about " hormone replacement therapy " from all sides – but was that really the only option to get my menopausal joint pain under control? There had to be a natural solution !
I found this solution for myself. That's why I want to share my story with you. In this article, you'll learn:
Back to my stiff muscles
Menopause doesn't happen in a vacuum. Everyday life continues regardless – muscle pain or not. I found myself increasingly at odds with my daughter in particular . She had just moved out and needed my advice, but I was getting more tired every day and simply preoccupied with my pain, making it increasingly difficult for her to reach me, let alone be an emotional support. This was explosive !

My husband was in the middle of it all and could only watch helplessly . Added to that tension was the tension between him and me, as I no longer felt any desire for closeness . How could I, when every limb ached and the next muscle cramp was never far away?
It wasn't easy for us as a family .
In short, I couldn't and didn't want to tolerate this situation any longer . When I looked in the mirror, I didn't recognize myself : My skin was paler, my wrinkles deeper, and the sparkle in my eyes had almost disappeared.
But I am writing this post to encourage you and show you that it doesn't have to come to that.
Then I'll just look for a solution myself!
Since my gynecologist didn't have any helpful advice for me, I started researching online . I scoured various forums and exchanged ideas with fellow sufferers. A guidebook was recommended to me several times, so I bought it: " Woman on Fire" by Dr. Sheila de Liz .

Dr. de Liz is a well-known gynecologist who has published several books. In "Woman on Fire," she explains how all these menopausal issues arise, such as hot flashes, mood swings, and, of course, the joint pain that plagues me.
The expert says, in essence: Once the symptoms have been identified, we can do a lot for our health and well-being. Menopause is n't a time you just have to "get through" ; you can shape it and do something good for yourself.
Sheila de Liz writes in her book:
Now, with all the knowledge about cortisol and the physical stress system , I read the book with new eyes and one sentence from the hormone specialist immediately stuck with me:
But even in our forties there are many inexplicable symptoms that are a direct result of the hormone deficiency: depression and other mental disorders, joint and muscle problems , cardiac arrhythmias, neurological diseases, strange skin problems and much more, which only manifest themselves during the menopause and often appear as the only symptom at first.
I found that interesting. Did that mean my joints weren't hurting because I was getting older , but because my hormones were changing ?
I continued reading my new book and soon found confirmation:
As we will learn in detail, hormone deficiency is one of the main causes of diseases in old age, which could prevent us from dancing exuberantly at our children's wedding.
That made me breathe a sigh of relief. If my hormones were to blame for this terrible muscle pain , I could certainly start there to finally feel free , light , and mobile again !
This realization opened my eyes!
Now I finally had a new approach: estrogen, progesterone and testosterone!
These hormones are crucial for female well-being—especially for you and me, and all women going through menopause. During menopause, our bodies produce less of the hormones progesterone and estrogen . We fall into a state of deficiency, so to speak.
This actually starts much earlier than I thought! As long as the three hormones are produced in sufficient quantities and are well regulated, everything runs like clockwork. In fact, however, the body begins to produce steadily less progesterone as early as age 35. Estrogen holds up well for most women until their mid-40s, but then its production also decreases.
And then everything gets out of balance! Then estrogen goes on a roller coaster ride , taking us on a turbulent ride: First it falls, then it rises again, and then it falls even further. It continues on and on – until we're past menopause.

Why this wild roller coaster ride? Estrogen affects almost every organ and cell in our body. When it changes, the entire body changes.
Therefore, it often takes until after menopause, when the hormonal changes are complete, for the female body to function reliably again . Until then, a very difficult time awaits us with several physical changes , which unfortunately often include muscle pain and stiffness.
Does it really have to be hormone replacement therapy?
Is it possible to restore hormone balance without having to wait until menopause? Many women choose hormone replacement therapy for this . I was skeptical about the whole thing.
While I was also plagued by the notorious sweating attacks , water retention , and sometimes severe mood swings , I really wanted to weigh all my options before deciding on a treatment method.
I visited my gynecologist, and she also said that hormone replacement therapy shouldn't be taken lightly. Since my stiff and sore muscles were the main problem, I really had to ask myself whether I wanted to expose myself to the increased risk of certain diseases :
Omega-3 fatty acids.
That all sounded terrible! I definitely didn't want to do that unless it was absolutely necessary!
My doctor told me that there are also herbal approaches to rebalance the disrupted hormones, such as taking chasteberry . I decided to do some more research on this before deciding on medical treatment.
Chasteberry has been used for centuries to relieve menopausal symptoms.

It particularly supports the body's own progesterone production and is said to reduce hot flashes and depressive moods4. Ipreviously read about this medicinal plant, alsoAgnus Castusquite
I wanted to test this. I went to the drugstore and bought an omega-3 supplement that sounded promising. "With valuable fish oil," it said on the package. I was optimistic. That sounded exactly like what my body needed right now.
So I tried a chasteberry supplement for three months . It definitely had an effect—but not the desired effect! At first, my previously moderate hot flashes became much more intense ! After a short time, however, I began to see some improvement. I waited in vain for my muscle pain to subside .
Of course, I was aware that there was no miracle cure that would make me feel like I was back in the body of a 20-year-old overnight. Still, I had hoped it would get easier.
So, could hormone replacement therapy be the only option for me?
There is light at the end of the tunnel
During this time, I got chatting with a neighbor's cousin, Annette , at her birthday party . She was a naturopath and had also struggled with severe menopausal muscle pain in the past.
She told me how, thankfully, she had finally found a solution . Since then, not only are her muscular pain and unpleasant hot flashes a thing of the past, but she also felt much more energetic and even started exercising again after years because she didn't know what to do with all her newfound energy.
But it had been a long road to get there . Annette had also tried various things—stretching exercises, ointments, painkillers, acupuncture, yoga, and even chasteberry...
The only thing that really helped her? No, it wasn't hormone replacement therapy!
It was an alternative approach without hormones —but with success! That was exactly what I was looking for! I was desperate to know more.
Annette explained to me: Because the hormonal changes themselves are so complex and bring with them various challenges, more than a single active ingredient is needed . Therefore, chasteberry or yarrow alone are not enough for most women to provide lasting relief from menopausal symptoms...
...especially not in such a specific situation as hormone-related muscle pain! Annette mentioned some ingredients that I hadn't necessarily associated with gynecological or joint pain:
When it comes to vitamin C, many people immediately think of colds. It's considered the quintessential immune vitamin. But how exactly does vitamin C work? On the one hand, it's a miracle cure for oxidative
stress. It helps promote microcirculation and inhibit inflammation, including in the muscles and joints 5 . Thus, it also protects the tissue in the musculoskeletal system from damage caused by free radicals. On
the other hand, vitamin C is also essential for the formation of collagen 6 , an important component of cartilage and connective tissue.

Vitamin B6 is better known for its effects on nerves and blood. However, with its role in hormone
regulation and anti-inflammatory properties , 7 it also plays an important role in muscle and joint pain . 8 Vitamin B6 also strengthens energy metabolism, so you feel fitter and more rested. This reduces the psychological burden of pain.

But the most important thing is: none of the active ingredients works as well when taken individually as a well-thought-out combination of active ingredients. This means that well-formulated complex products work better than isolated active ingredients .
The secret was to use various active ingredients to rebalance the disrupted hormones, so that this also has a positive effect on the sore muscles .
Annette had recognized this, and it took her a big step forward . But what should such a mixture look like? Perhaps like a smoothie ? Or a concoction of various powders? As a naturopathic practitioner, she was familiar with the various dosage forms. But she also knew how difficult it is to combine the right ingredients in the perfect dosage to achieve the ideal, long-lasting effect.
A discovery that would change not only Annette’s life!
Nevertheless, Annette was thrilled to discover that the individual substances worked better together . She just had to find a way to deliver the active ingredients she needed to her body.
After some research, Annette discovered a holistic menopause treatment that uses a plant complex.
The herbal nutrient mix combines pure plant extracts and also contains vital substances that women often completely lack during menopause . This deficiency then causes the usual symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep problems, mood swings, or even muscle stiffness and musculoskeletal pain .
The VitaMoment Meno-Balance treatment – that is the name of this treatment – combines several alternative approaches.
At the heart of the treatment is the Meno Complex , a preparation of high-quality vital substances based on chasteberry, yam root, hop extract, yarrow, vitamins C and B6 and iron.

Hops and yarrow are full of so-called phytohormones . These are plant substances that are so similar to estrogen and progesterone that they bind to the same receptors in the body and thus compensate for a
deficiency of the body's own hormones 9 .
Incidentally, iron deficiency is a problem in about 20% of all women 10 . Women also notice iron deficiency when their periods are irregular or stop. It manifests itself in symptoms such as fatigue , irritability , and forgetfulness . Particularly important for the muscles: Iron is essential for the oxygen supply to the muscles. A deficiency of this trace element leads to rapid muscle fatigue and a tendency to inflammation.
The Meno Complex is full of good vital substances that we women over 45 urgently need !
It sounded like the ingredients were truly perfectly tailored to the needs of women going through menopause. So I gave this Meno-Balance treatment a try. Why not? VitaMoment offers a 100-day money-back guarantee if you're not completely satisfied with a product. I had nothing to lose!
And what can I say?
I wouldn't have thought it possible, but after just a few days, I felt significantly better . First, the intensity of the hot flashes decreased. Shortly afterward, to my relief, I noticed that my muscle pain was actually noticeably lessening .
I noticed it first because my shoulders were more flexible as soon as I woke up . It took a little longer for my back to feel better, but the pain soon subsided completely.
After just a few weeks, I had rediscovered the joy of long walks and thoroughly enjoyed my regained freedom of movement. Since I was no longer kept awake at night by pain and worries, I started the day refreshed. Just like before! No more dark circles under my eyes, no more fatigued bouts throughout the day, and most importantly: no more pain interfering with my daily life.
My colleagues also noticed this newfound energy. I stepped up my game at work and took control of my personnel planning.
I had nerves of steel again , and that benefited my family. My daughter could once again rely on me to be there for her when she needed my advice and support. I could once again be her rock.

I couldn't believe how just 2 capsules a day made such a positive difference to my entire daily routine and almost completely eliminated my muscle pain.
But it was the overall Meno-Balance treatment package that guided me through this time of change. The Meno-Complex capsules were one element and without a doubt the essential building block. But equally important were the manual and the accompanying video course (with lifetime access, by the way). Both gave me an even deeper understanding of the profound changes the hormones were causing in my body. I learned helpful little everyday tricks that were also beneficial for my body.
What I personally found particularly great was the " habit tracker " in the manual. It allowed me to check exactly whether I was implementing my resolutions and was on the right track. It was a great help , especially when I was just starting out .
After about 30 days, I felt like a different person. My enthusiasm for exercise had returned, and I immediately lost a few extra pounds —perhaps partly because the water retention in my arms and legs had decreased.
My husband also noticed my positive change and now we take time for our relationship and intimacy again .
He even convinced me to participate in a walking challenge in our town. I would never have said "yes" to that, even before menopause. But today, I simply have the strength and energy to do it. I feel like I could pull up trees .
Not only Annette and I have had these experiences
The Meno-Balance program gave me access to a closed Facebook community , where numerous women reported similar results in their own personal situations.

This personal exchange helped me greatly to come to terms with my menopause . I was happy to be part of this incredibly strong and wonderful community of women. If I had any questions, there was always someone available to answer them—both my like-minded friends and the wonderful VitaMoment support team .
Heartfelt recommendation from woman to woman
Today, I'm so grateful to have found the ideal solution for me. One that has noticeably made my new life easier and relieved my muscle pain during menopause.
Because even though the path is rocky and difficult and the symptoms of menopause are completely natural, I, like Dr. Sheila de Liz and many other powerful women, am firmly convinced that we women should not have to make it unnecessarily difficult .
In any case, I've truly embraced my new self. I'm much more flexible again and feel more balanced than ever . I also have more peace and serenity for the important things.
I'm excited about everything that lies ahead and see this new phase of my life as an opportunity to try new things and do more for myself and my health . I hope I can set an example for my daughter .

I can't say whether this solution is suitable for every woman. Hormones are a rather complex matter . However, I've been taking the Meno-Complex for six months now, have read the manual thoroughly, and would n't want to be without these helpers in my life anymore .
For some sufferers, hormone replacement therapy might be the right option. In my opinion, the Meno-Balance treatment is definitely worth a try if you prefer a gentle, herbal method
. I would have been grateful if someone had told me earlier that there was a holistic and gentle approach that could relieve my hormone-related muscle problems and all the other symptoms.
For this reason, I'm happy to be able to share my experiences with other women here on the German Health Professionals Association platform.
